I'd like to open a thread concerning Mail account files (oeaccounts) issues.
I've found the "oeaccount" files seem to handle mail account persistence; a move away from registry and towards files. I'd like to know if MS has or will provide a object/library to specifically handle read/writing to these files. Or if it's up to us to write owr own XML DOM or SAX code to handle it. Any thoughts on MS Mail acct XML?
Is there such? Something else? Code samples, White papers, Vista Beta Mail contacts?
Aside: links to ANY detailed Microsoft Mail API's and objects and libraries are warmly welcomed!

Mail account files - XML
I believe we'll be seeing a Windows Mail API sometime soon - maybe after the Vista release, but I'm sure there's one being planned. Let's just see what André says when he's back in this newsgroup - I'm sure he know's.

Thanks Zack,
I'm very hopeful for 2 things: a) joining the Windows Vista Technical Beta Program and prepare our Vista product NOW, not after the Vista release); and b) that we do indeed get APIs before the Vista release.
Any thoughts on how to join Windows Vista Technical Beta Program?
and thanks too for joining the thread I began. This and the one I titled "Mail password crypto mechanism" are my first! Any advice on wording and professionalism? Of course one of my goals is to have one of those "MVP" stickers next to my name!

Of course one of my goals is to have one of those "MVP" stickers next to my name!
Answer thousands of questions over a long period of time and expect nothing in return. Your peers are the people that direct the MVP Leads to people they have found is reliable in answers and help.
The programming interface for WinMail will remain pretty much the same as it has been for OE.
There is new stuff on the accounts and contacts programming that will be in the SDK for Vista.
You might try relying on MVP feedback rather than depending upon other beta testers for information.
cheers,
steve

Sorry :oP
http://connect.microsoft.com - that's where the SDK's are. However if you got the build from your MSDN subscription, check the MSDN site.

Hi George,
I think its only available at the moment in very beta form. Once beta2 is out, they may make it available.
If you have an MSDN subscription, there are versions available there now.
